Own your story

In my "old" life, I was always known for being the strong one, the backbone, the one with invincible resilience. As the cancer diagnosis suddenly, from one day to the next, totally unexpectedly, made me leave business life behind and hand over my projects, I decided to take charge of my story.

Right from day 1 of the diagnosis, it was so important for me to communicate openly about my cancer and the next treatment steps. I did not want to leave anyone in the dark, doubting and perhaps talking of me as if I would die the next day. In this early phase of my cancer journey I was really afraid of negative energy and what negative thoughts might trigger. So by telling my story in my words, displaying my positive approach and sharing my incredible, immediate enlightenment, I really wanted to create positive vibes within my network of family and friends, initiating a wave of positivity that would help me but also encourage those I communicated with …. And it worked!

The cancer experience forced me for the first time in my life to show my vulnerable side to business colleagues, and the response was so heart-warming – incredible for me. Now I can only recommend: dare to show your vulnerability - it makes you human! My relationships have actually all benefitted from showing my vulnerability, they are deeper, more honest, more joyful.
