Every feeling is thought
Sometimes even the most genuine positivity does not prevent me from feeling depressed, sad, overwhelmed. And when I am facing these down times, even reminding myself, how lucky I am to be alive, to have overcome the past hurdles, to have the love & support in my life that I have,...it's sometimes not pulling me out of the down.
The following has helped me though: EVERY FEELING IS THOUGHT.
When first hearing this, frankly, it took me a while to understand and grasp it. In the meantime, I have become a believer ;-)
Once you accept that every feeling is thought, you realise that by changing your thought, you change how you feel. And it's up to you, to change your train of thought and where it takes you....easier said than done, I agree, yet worth the effort!
When it comes to living with a handicap or a chronic illness, immense
patience is required from yourself to accept that you might not be able to do the things that you did in your “old” life with the same speed and productivity. But it does not mean that your “new” life is worthless or not worth living. To the contrary, if you open your mindset, you realise that your new lifestyle can actually be absolutely amazing.
So when it comes to happiness and leading a happy life, remember that happiness is a state of mind. If you can control your view of your life, your space in the world, and see it in relation to the bigger picture, you may find it's easier to be happy than you think!
