Living with sense of urgency

This week's blog post might be a bit scary, perhaps feel uncomfortable for you but if you dare to follow my train of thoughts, I hope that it will be insightsful for you, perhaps eye-opening.

So what's my theme today? I believe that it’s worthwhile to have a certain sense of urgency when it comes to spending your time well, living your life. What do I mean: we do not know how long our life will be, when it will reach its deadline. To look at it from a scary point of view: it might be that one’s deadline is reached later today due to a terrible accident, a deadly event that you cannot even prevent.

Sense of urgency shall not imply that you have to go through life full of fear, stressed and hassled, scared that every moment you drop dead – not at all. Instead, the sense of urgency shall lead to living in the moment, consciously enjoying what you do right now, no matter how healthy or sick you are, how wealthy or poor you are, how fully functioning of disabled you are. To live with such a consciously appreciative mindset, you better distant yourself as well as possible from negative influences, negative energies and pessimistic, energy draining people. This mindset really empowers you to make choices how you spend your time and with whom and it may result in living without any regrets – it’s your responsibility and you cannot delegate it to someone else.

Once, in a personal development training organized by our company, our coach conducted an exercise that might sound morbid or scary at first but when you really actively think it through and dare to embark on the exercise, it’s thought provoking. So I would like to share this exercise with you. It’s about beginning with the end in mind and envisioning your own funeral – yes, scary .................but an unparalleled opportunity to connect to your most important priorities and values, refocusing on what’s really important to you, who the people are that really matter to you. And as tough it may be, truth is: thinking about death, clarifies your life.

If you would like to embark on this exercise, I recommend the following link that provides you with all you need in 7 steps:
