Have you ever woken up late, panicked, and then felt like nothing good happened the rest of the day?
This is likely because you started out the day with a negative emotion and a pessimistic view that carried into every other event you experienced.
And so it can truly make a difference how you start the morning, setting the tone for the rest of the day.
Almost invariably, you’re going to encounter obstacles throughout the day ....When you encounter such an obstacle, take it as a challenge (not a problem ;-) and focus on the benefits, no matter how slight or unimportant they seem.
For example, I chose to cycle to the office, no matter what the weather is like, because I know that the physical exercise revives me, gives me more energies than it requires and I value it as me-time. Moreover when I come to a red light, I do not cross over and feel stressed out. Instead I chose to accept the red light as a "godly sign", meant to be to stop me in my tracks. This short pause allows me to catch my breath, to actually take notice where I am, what and who surrounds me, ..... so I really see it as an opportunity to connect with the here and now. And when it rains, what about cycling to work? Well, it's all about dressing appropriately - no excuses :-) we are not made of sugar (an Austrian saying).
So my recommendation: start your day with a smile, acknowledging all the good in your life and all the good YOU can do this day, however small.
You’ll be amazed how much your day improves.
