The magic of compliments

There are many ways of expressing appreciation. Giving a compliment or expressing a positive feedback is one way and actually it's a really simple, easy way to do. Yet, many forget about it, rushing around, hassling on without pausing here and there to express one's gratitude, appreciation, love.
Mark Twain once said, “I can live for two months on a good compliment.” I really like this quote because it expresses so well the ripple effect and longer-lasting impact of a compliment. Yet what's missing in this quote is the fact that the impact is actually two-ways: the person giving the compliment also benefits from doing good by feeling better.
Just imagine hearing, “Wow, you look very nice tonight” or “You did a great job today" or "Thanks for taking care of the shopping" .... of course these compliments become really meaningful when you emphasize what you are REALLY grateful about and why.
Yet, the first step is to stop in your tracks and actually take a moment to express your gratitude, your appreciation, your love. It can be in writing or spoken out loudly, whatever feels best to you. Just do it.
And imagine how your relationships deepen when you do it more regularly. Why not develop the habit of making at least 1 compliment each day .... my experience is: compliments stimulate compliments And the perpetuum mobile of positivity gets an extra kick :-)
