If you find yourself in a sad, depressed mood, fretting with yourself, there is 1 easy remedy that catapults you out of your sadness or energy low: divert your attention to others, asking yourself:
what can I do to brighten someone else’s day?
Perhaps the answer lies in
:-) writing a birthday card with a meaningful message from the heart
:-) putting your love and attention into baking a cake or surprising your loved ones with the family favourite dish
:-) giving a helping hand to the elderly neighbor
:-) offering your "open ears" and mentoring skills to a colleague
By consciously diverting your attention from your own heart-felt misery to compassion towards others, you get yourself into action mode. You kick yourself out of the self-pity state and the reward is instant. You feel good yourself because you have been active, not a powerless victim, and in the best case the other person is appreciative about your effort, which makes you feel even better.
