How my Life's Motto acts as Guiding Beacon
Some years ago, in preparation for a team building day, I dug deep and identified my personal life’s motto which carried me through great and tough times: Live, Love, Laugh everyday My motto acts like a guidepost, my very personal beacon that allows me to evaluate how I have spent a day, if I have stayed true to its essence, if I overlooked an opportunity.
“Live, Love, Laugh everyday” reminds me that I am the master of my life and my happiness, no matter what. It’s my choice to live consciously and be present in the here and now. And the good news: I can chose so every hour of the day anew. Equally, it’s in my power to give more love, more appreciation, more gratitude which will result in even more love as a reward. And it depends on my mindset to see the brighter, sunnier, funnier side whatever comes my way. Laughter signifies for me that I truly enjoy what I am doing and it also makes stress more bearable for me. As Goethe said once, “A day that you have not laughed, is a lost day”.
I do not believe that with this positive mindset I can prevent hardships to happen, to cure myself from cancer or prevent that metastases occur one day. But this mindset reminds me and challenges me to make everyday a good day, acknowledging the little things that matter. Therefore my motto does not stress me out to achieve everyday something exceptionally great, to reach each day the top of the proverbial Kilimanjaro or deliver a big success in the classical way. “Live, love, laugh everyday” reflects my intention, my ambition, that I go through life with open eyes, an open mind and open arms to embrace opportunities and to enjoy life, no matter what.
