Tune your self-talk
When is the last time that you actually listened attentively to your very own self-talk?
Once you pause and really tune into your self-talk, you might realize that quite some negative mental chatter goes on in your head.
The question is: would you ever talk to anyone the way you talk to yourself?
It's amazing how harsh we can be with ourselves, how unforgiving, how high we set the bars,....
Funnily enough, it's up to each one of us how we talk to ourselves and what we choose to believe is up to us as well ... crazy.
My experience is that it may take quite a lot of effort to tune the self-talk towards positivity and self-compassion, .... and that it's a conscious choice to not see oneself as a powerless victim who is forced down one route.
Perhaps I am equipped with quite a stubborn mindset because I am getting always itchy if I sense that someone wants to trap me in 1 mental alleyway. I prefer to see many possible "doors" that I can chose from, acknowledging that each door will lead me down a different path in life .... that might be scary sometimes but I prefer to be in the driver seat, making choices and accepting the consequences.
Tuning your self-talk is an important step towards believing in yourself and empowering yourself to be the leader of your very own life ... who else is better equipped ;-)
So next time you hear yourself say, "I can't do that", I suggest:
1. stop your train of thoughts and pause
2. tell yourself, "Liar liar pants on fire" .... laughing at yourself is allowed ;-)
.... and then start again and believe in yourself!
